East Hampton Democrats Endorse Slate

Candidates made official at caucus on Thursday night.

The East Hampton Democratic Town Committee officially endorsed its slate of candidates Thursday night at its caucus.

Having already announced its candidates earlier this month, there were no surprises as the caucus was more a formality.

Still, there was plenty of enthusiasm for the candidates.

I think we have a great slate of candidates,” Democratic Town Committee Chair Barbara Moore said. “All do different things, all are involved in the town. I think that’s the most important thing.

Missing from the list of candidates for town council are John Tuttle and Christopher Goff, who chose not run again after serving eight years on the council.

Moore, who also sits on the council and was nominated to run again, thought that an infusion of fresh faces was a positive, saying,  “It’s great to have new people. I’m happy for them.”

Chatham Carillo was one of those new faces not so long ago, being appointed to the town council on Dec. 14 after William Devine resigned in November. Carillo also will run.

Joining Moore and Carillo in the town council race are George Pfaffenback, who currently serves on the board of finance, James Vick and John Moore.

In the board of education race, Ken Barber, Denise Russo, Carol Williams and Terri Schlosser were nominated.

For board of finance, incumbent Tom O’Brien will run again. O’Brien is joined by Laura Borg and Ted Turner.

Dennis Wall and Brendan Flannery will run for the zoning board of appeals and Andrew Tierney for the Regional Planning Agency.

“The Democratic Party in general stands for progress and this slate stands for progress for the town of East Hampton,” said Vick.
