East Hampton Rotary Awards Scholarships

Twelve area high school seniors honored.

 

The East Hampton Rotary Club recently awarded 12 area high school seniors with their annual scholarship awards, with a special interest toward those desiring to attend technical or community colleges.

This year 28 applications were received and reviewed by the Scholarship Committee, comprised of Christine Costa, Jerry Day, William Devine, Fred Hansen, Bill Helveston and co-chairs Craig Williams and Bruce Shepard. Applications were based on scholastic ability, required essay, school and extracurricular activities, interview and need. This year’s scholarships awarded totaled $15,000.

The Rotary Club is pleased and proud to present this year’s winners:

  • William Lambert (not pictured), attending Boston College, studying business or biology, recipient of the Jason Rittman Scholarship, which was named for the nephew of Donald Rittman, who died in a traffic accident.
  • Adam Guy, attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, studying homeland security on his way to military. Adam won the Eaton Smith scholarship which will pay $1,000 per year over four years. Eaton Smith was a charter member of the East Hampton Rotary Club and passed away in 2006.
  • Genna Marcin, attending Fordham University, studying biochemistry or biomedical engineering on a premed track.
  • Anne Michaud, attending UConn School of Nursing.
  • Rebecca Frazon, attending ECSU, studying biochemisty.
  • William Owen, attending VT Technical College in Randolph, Vt., studying fire science.
  • Kacey Reinholtz, attending Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture, studying large animal science.
  • Michael Higgins, attending ECSU, environmental studies, received the TurnKey Compliance Solutions scholarship.
  • Caleb Gates, attending UConn School of Engineering, studying mechanical engineering.
  • Rosse Gates, attending UConn, studying niomedical engineering.
  • Bryce Reed, attending Manchester Community College, studying criminal justice on a path toward law enforcement.
  • Brendan Hall, attending NYU, studying film/drama. received the Ron Smith Scholarship, recognizing one whose life epitomizes the ideals of Rotary.
