Today in East Hampton, Portland: Yellow Ribbon Tying Ceremony, East Hampton Town Council

Five things to help you get organized on Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

1. Yellow Ribbon Tying Ceremony to Honor the Troops:  Join the families of U.S. Army 1st Lieutenant Matthew Rogers and U.S. Army Specialist Kurt Schluntz in tying yellow ribbons on the tree in the East Hampton village center to show support for the troops.  The ceremony will take place at 6:30 a.m. in the village center, 59 Main St.

2. Last Night of Kidding Around the Center:  Looking for something nearby for the kids?  This annual children’s fun fair and festival on the nearby Glastonbury town center green has a whole host of fun, free activities for kids, as well as a few that require tickets for a nominal fee. The entertainment showcases some of the local community businesses and groups working with children.  The event, sponsored by the Glastonbury Town Center Initiatives, will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

3. Portland Housing Authority Meeting: The meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. at 208 Main St.

4.  East Hampton Town Council Meeting:  Don’t forget to head to the town council’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library.
