Job Postings: Youth Leaders - After School Programs (East Haddam, CT)

The Middlesex YMCA is recruiting Youth Leaders to work in East Haddam with children in kindergarten through third grades in our state licensed after school programs for the 2013-2014 school year.

Individuals must be 18 years of age or older and have previous childcare experience and be enthusiastic, reliable and motivated. Individuals will be hired based on their ability to be positive role models for children and to demonstrate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Youth leaders are responsible for ensuring the safety and well being of program participants at all times. Job duties include planning and facilitating daily recreational and educational activities including art, drama, music, science, literacy, homework and active play. Applicants are also required to be a team player and assist other program staff in the set up and clean up of the program site. All employees must understand and follow all licensing requirements mandated by the CT Department of Public Health.

This job is part time (15 hours per week). Hours are M-F from 3-6 pm. This position is a seasonal position (school year 2013-2014). Summer employment is available through the Middlesex YMCA in other departments. Benefits include professional development opportunities and YMCA membership (fitness).

All youth leaders must be able to obtain a current TB Test and physical and have reliable transportation. Youth leaders will also receive a DCF and criminal background check in order to be eligible for employment. All employees receive professional development training prior to their employment and monthly throughout the school year.
