East Hampton Council to Vote on the Budget in Two Weeks

The town meeting on the budget is set for April 23. The referendum is tentatively scheduled for May 7.

The town's $39.8 million budget proposal will go before voters on May 7 under the schedule established by the Town Council.

The council got a copy of the budget at Tuesday night's meeting and is scheduled to vote on it at its next meeting on April 23.

The 2013-2014 budget proposal includes a $28 million Board of Education spending plan and $9.7 for general government operations.

The budget represents an increase of 3.8 percent, or $1.4 million, over this year's budget. The town's tax rate would need to increase 1.16 mills next year.

The town this year has published a "Citizen's Guide to the Budget," which you can access here.
