East Hampton to Welcome Home Two Service Members

Ceremony is scheduled for Friday at Village Center.

 

Perhaps you've seen a couple of signs on Route 66 in East Hampton welcoming home two service members. The signs can mean one thing for sure, another Welcome Home Veterans Ceremony will be held at the Village Center triangle in town.

Navy 3rd Class Petty Officer Cody Flannery and Navy Seabee Christopher Abbott will be the guests of honor at the Yellow Ribbon Tree on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Both men, 2008 graduates of East Hampton High School, recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Abbott is trained in Urban Warfare Skills, Flannery specializes in Communication Security Maintenance. Both deployed from Gulfport, Miss. The two will be the seventh and eighth service members East Hampton has welcomed home and had his yellow ribbon removed from the tree in what has become a popular and well-attended tradition in town.

Parking is available in the Congregational Church and Center School parking lots.
