Mom's Talk Q & A

Do rising gas prices and summer fun go together?

Each week in Mom's Talk, our Mom's Council and smart moms take your questions, give advice and share solutions. This week, what do the rising gas prices mean for you and your family this summer? Feel free to partake in the discussion and offer an opinion, or a future question, by commenting below.

Q. Gas prices are on the rise again and have already surpassed $4.00 a gallon in many areas. What does this mean for your family’s summer plans? Will you re-evaluate your plans and stay home instead of traveling? If so, what local activities will you take advantage of?

A.  Unfortunately, our summer plans will definitely be affected by the rising gas prices. We usually plan two trips each summer and stay within driving distance. One year we drove to Lake George, N.Y. and stayed for a long weekend and then visited family in Virginia for a week. We will probably plan only one trip out of state this year because of the cost of gas and we will most likely not be going far. Instead of traveling, we will probably take a lot of day trips. Heading down to Mystic is always a great time and the kids also enjoy the museums in Boston.
