Sears Point Park Concession Stand to Reopen!

The East Hampton Town Council ordered the stand reopened in time for the Fourth of July.

The concession stand at Sears Point Park is set to reopen in time for the Fourth of July.

The Parks and Recreation Department had initially said it was closing the concession stand because it was losing up to $4,000 a year.

“It sounds like people are just not buying the food there,” Town Manager Michael Maniscalco told the council.

But Councilor Ted Hintz Jr. said that he didn’t think the losses were that high, compared to “the money we waste in this town,” Hintz said.

Counciler Kyle Dostaler said he didn’t know why the Parks and Recreation Department would want to run the stand if it was losing money.

However, Councilor George Plaffenbach said that he believed the stand should be opened as a service to the town.

Hintz demanded that the stand be reopened in time for Fourth of July weekend, and at least through the end of July.

Ultimately no councilors objected to reopening the stands, and the Town Council told Recreation Department officials to reopen the park’s concessions.
