Swimmer to Pass Through East Hampton, Portland, During 50-Mile Connecticut River Swim

Todd Mozzer later this week will swim from Hartford to Old Saybrook to raise money for charity.

It's about a 50-minute trip, one way, from Hartford to Old Saybrook. But when Todd Mozzer makes the journey starting this week it will take him days.

The Westhersfield man will swim the Connecticut River from the capitol city to the mouth of the river in Old Saybrook beginning Friday, June 28 and ending on June 30, according to a report on Fox Connecticut.

Along the way he'll pass through numerous local towns, including East Hampton and Portland.

Mozzer, a carpenter, is making the river swim to raise awareness for child victims of sexual assault. He is part of the group "Darkness to Light," which seeks to raise money and awareness for victims.

On his profile page for the website, Mozzer says he's always felt compelled to help others and hopes to join the Peace Corps to continue that calling.

"The Peace Corps is a dream of mine," he said. "I almost did it in 1984, but I started working and it hasn't stopped. There will be a day when it stops and I can work with the people."
