Whiz Kid: Grace Riegler

Whiz Kid's age: 7

Whiz Kid's accomplishment: Grace Riegler, from East Hampton, is like most other girls her age. She loves to swim, ride bikes and play with her friends. What sets her apart from other kids her age is her enthusiasm for helping others.

Grace recently donated nine inches of her hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths campaign. Hair Trends in East Hampton made the cut. Grace was proud to donate her hair especially to such a great cause. Her family has a friend who experienced hair loss during cancer treatments and Grace hopes that her “hair will give strength to those in need as well as feel beautiful.” In the Beautiful Lengths campaign, Pantene partners with the American Cancer Society and together with legions of women and children donating their hair they have been able to donate over “18,000 free real-hair wigs to the American Cancer Society’s wig banks which distribute wigs to cancer patients across the country.” To contribute her hair, Grace had to leave it free from any dyes or colors and have at least 8 inches to donate. 

While growing out her hair, she spent the summer vacationing at Cape Cod, visiting with family in Pennsylvania, swimming, reading and spending time with friends and family. In addition to her good deeds, Grace also participates in many different activities including dance, soccer and local theater.  his past spring she played the role of a munchkin in East Hampton’s YPCCA production of The Wizard of Oz.  With the start of her third-grade year, Grace is looking forward to her last year at Memorial Elementary and her first year on the travel soccer team.
