Good Luck Choosing Between Two Worthy Benefits Today: Food Improv & Art4Haiti

If only cloning was possible in Middletown ... proceeds from Wesleyan's Zilkha Gallery art sales AND an evening of gourmet tapas at the Wadsworth Mansion will go to a Haitian charity and Oddfellows Youth Playhouse. Middletown.

It's not often that Middletown plays host to two equally fabulous fundraisers that leaves folks flipping a coin over which to attend — and agonizing over the invitation they begrudgingly decline.

One's a prestigious opening of 12 Middletown and Middlesex County artists at Wesleyan University's Zilkha Gallery — broadcast live on WNPR — and the other is Oddfellows Playhouse's Food Improv with a celebrity twist — hostess Lucy Nalpathanchil, WNPR Connecticut Public Radio correspondent and Middletown resident.

Art for Haiti is a select group of 12 local artists debuting their works Thursday from 5-7 p.m. in the Wesleyan University's Zilkha Gallery. NPR will broadcast that evening from the gallery. Portions of sales are donated to Movin' With The Spirit.

Food Improv: Eat Your Art Out to aid Oddfellows Playhouse's scholarships and program support is also Thursday, from 6-9 p.m., at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown. A tasting style event, Food Improv will showcase a variety of dishes created by some of the best chefs and restaurants throughout Connecticut.
