Coin Superstore Comes to East Haven

East Haven’s Victor Perricone and his two partners recently expanded their business to include a location on Main Street.

Growing up, Victor Perricone’s grandfather instilled a love for coin collecting in him. Perricone said he “liked them and really took an interest in them.”

Perricone remained an avid collector through adulthood and after an injury forced him into an early retirement from the East Haven Board of Education, he decided to turn his passion into a career.

In 2004, Perricone and his two partners opened The Coin Superstore, a national business with an office in New York. They have also run the New Haven Coin and Currency Show at the New Haven Annex Club since 2004 on the third Sunday of every month where dealers from all over the tri-state area can buy, sell and trade with public.

This past year, the partners decided to expand the business into East Haven, where Perricone has been a lifelong resident. On Dec. 1, the Coin Superstore opened at 593 Main Street.

“I never thought it would take off to this extent,” said Perricone. “It’s something quite unique. The showroom is very neat, very open – it’s not your typical coin shop.”

In addition to being a certified coin dealer – buying, selling and trading coins – the Coin Superstore also offers books and coin supplies. And Perricone also said experienced and novice collectors are welcome to check out the new storefront.

“Serious coin collectors, whether buying or selling, can call us to look at their collection or coins,” said Perricone. “People can come in and talk to us about what kind of coin or set they’d like to start collecting and we can help them get started, guide them on what to do and how to do it.”

Good luck Vic, I'm sure you'll do well. East Haven needs new businesses as a couple of them on Main St. have closed their doors.

Vic, one more thing important thing. If you don't already have one get one. That would be the pistol permit. Recent jewerly store armed robbery(s) and the bank job, crimes of such on the rise it would be prudent to have such. Can't wait for the bid board to start up. Good luck.

Another store in East Haven that I have no reason to ever go to!
