Chatham History Festival
The Chatham Historical Society (CHS) is planning a "Chatham History Festival" on Sunday, October 20th from 12-4 pm at the CHS Museum complex on 6 Bevin Blvd., East Hampton. Come celebrate CHS' 50 years of preserving East Hampton history.
The Chatham Historical Society Museum will be open to the public free of charge. The three museum buildings have a large display of artifacts illustrating East Hampton's history. There is a large display of bells produced at the Bevin Bell Factory and a huge array of toys built at the Gong Bell Factory and the N. N. Hill Brass Co.
American Distilling Company, the world’s largest producer of witch hazel and one of East Hampton’s oldest companies, will have a display of their Dickinson Brand products. They will also be passing out free samples of their famous health and beauty products. Come and learn about the production of witch hazel.

Watch old time crafts people at work. Ross Johnson will demonstrate the work of a blacksmith and his daughter, Victoria, will wear and display her 17th-19th century costumes that she has made. She also spins wool and creates custom designed embroidered handkerchiefs.
Bring your chairs or blankets and listen to the free music. The classic rock and roll band, “SeeQuence,” composed of Jim Stopa and Brian Caron will start the festivities at noon. Then Kevin Day and his “Giggle Juice” band will follow. Acoustic guitarist Alexander Trovern-Trend will also provide music for the event.

The CHS will provide free doughnuts and apple cider. Food will also be provided by these venders: Higher Grounds Coffee Shop, Main Street Pizza, and Crafty Cup Cakes.
Old time games and crafts such as “Nine Man Morris,” making corn stalk dolls, quilts, and sewing journals are planned for children inside the 1840 one room Chestnut Hill Schoolhouse and on the Museum grounds. Children will also be able to play with some of the wooden toys made long ago in the East Hampton factories.
