The vigil will begin Sunday December 23rd at 4:00 p.m. and will be located in the Governor O’Neill Gazebo at Sears Park. Attendees are asked to bring their own candles. Father Walter Nagle from St. Patrick Church will pray and speak at the vigil. A shuttle bus will be available beginning at 3:30 p.m. from the East Hampton High School parking lot.
Also, on Friday, December 21, 2012, Governor Malloy has asked for a moment of silence and for all churches to ring their bells at 9:30 a.m. in honor of the Newtown tragedy. With East Hampton’s long history as Belltown, the town strongly encourages every East Hampton citizen to ring a bell at 9:30 a.m. in honor of those who lost their lives on December 14, 2012 in Newtown CT.
The Town will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Friday in front of the Town Hall to observe the moment of silence and ring bells to remember the young lives lost and the heroes of December 14, 2012. All public, Town Officials and Town Staff are encouraged to attend.
