The East Hampton Board of Education has hired a new school superintendent.
Diane Dugas, curriculum director for the Granby school district, will begin her new job here in July. She was formerly the assistant superintendent in the Region 4 school district, which serves Chester, Deep River and Essex.
In her new job here she will earn $162,000 annually, according to a report in the Hartford Courant.
The school board will finalize her contract next week, said board Chairman Mark Laraia.
Dugas replaces former School Superintendent Judith Golden, who retired last year.
Dugas, Laraia said "brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of Common Core and Teacher Evaluation. She is very connected with state organizations. I believe that Diane will continue the work started by Dr. Golden and the education staff and move this school system further into the 21st century."
The school district is currently being run by Interim School Superintendent Mark Winzler.
