Gov. Malloy Calls For Bell Toll, Moment Of Silence On Friday

Connecticut governor asks churches, residents to honor 26 victims of shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown

Gov. Dannel Malloy is asking Connecticut residents to observe a moment of silence Friday, exactly one week after a gunman at a Newtown elementary school killed 26 people.

According to the Associated Press, Malloy is asking churches to ring their bells 26 times at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning. He asked residents to observe a moment of silence during this time.

Police say 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, before killing 26 people - including 20 children - at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. The gunman later committed suicide at the scene.
