High Winds Predicted for East Hampton and Portland

The National Weather Service is warning that winds could gust up to 60 MPH tomorrow night.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for the area.

The winds are expected to pick up Wednesday night and continue through the evening.

The hazard, the weather services said, would be from damaging wind gusts. Winds from the south will be sustained at 25 to 35 MPH with gusts up to 60 mph.

The NWS alert reads “these strong winds... in combination with heavy rain... could bring down whole trees... large tree limbs... power lines and unsecured outdoor objects. This could pose a hazard to anyone out driving or walking Wednesday night... and to houses and other structures near larger trees.”
