March for Change: 'When You Put A Child On A Bus, They Have The Right To Come Home'

As hundreds rallied in Hartford for tougher gun laws, Patch was on hand to find out what brought people to the March for Change on Thursday.

On the two-month anniversary of the tragic shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown that claimed the lives of 20 children and six adults, hundreds gathered on the steps of the state Capitol in Hartford Thursday to advocate for changes to Connecticut’s gun laws.

The event, known as the March for Change, was organized by CT Against Gun Violence and included remarks by politicians, musicians, faith leaders and gun violence survivors and family members of others whose lives were cut short by gun violence, including several from the Sandy Hook shootings.

People came from all over Connecticut to be heard and express their views on the controversial subject of gun control, but Patch wanted to know the answer to one simple question:

What brought you here today?

Why do most news sites lie and say there were several thousand there? At least this site got the numbers right!

I wonder what flavor the Kool-Aid was at this rally? Because it looks like a lo of you are foolish enough to drink it. Go ahead, make more laws to regulate the citizens of CT. You people should be ashamed of yourselves!! A state like yours that prides itself on independent thought, and was very much in the forefront of the war for independence from Britain, and in as much, you have more firearms manuacturers than anywhere else in the country. Why would you want to disarm law-abiding citizens? Because you feel good about it? While your outlawing things, dont forget to outlaw drugs! Oh wait! you already did that! Theyre in the schools, too. So maybe of we outlaw guns too, they wont be in the schools? Face it Connecticut, you will be disarming law abiding citizens, and the only people who will be able to defend themselves will be the liberal government! Wake up and see what is going on! The liberal government is capitalizing on your tragedy and using it, along with the attitude you have now, which is youre scared of guns, to begin the process to eliminate guns. And guess what? The drug dealer down the street will still have his gun, the gang- banger will still have his gun, they are criminals, they dont care how many laws you enact!! For Gods sake people WAKE UP and see what they are trying to do to you and eventually it will get to all of us. Dont let them do this! Dont drink the Kool-Aid any more!! God gave us these rights, not the government, dont let them take our rights!!
