Matt Bevin Considering Run Against Mitch McConnell

Bevin is a Tea Party member who lives in Louisville, Kentucky. A published report says Bevin is considering a run against McConnel, the U.S. Senate Minority Leader.

Matt Bevin, owner of the Bevin Brothers Bell Factory in East Hampton is mulling a primary against U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican.

Bevin, 46, lives in Louisville, Ky., but operates his family's more than 170-year-old bell factory here in East Hampton.

According to the website Dailycaller.com , Bevin, "a prominent philanthropist and Louisville resident since the late 1990s," is considering a primary run against McConnell on the Tea Party ticket and could help the party moderate its battered image.

Bevin made headlines across the state last year and rubbed elbows with prominent political figures in Connecticut after his family's bell factory downtown burned to the ground in a spectacular blaze that drew firefighters from dozens of local departments.

I like ya, Matt. I even pitched in a few times on the bell efforts. But if you believe Mitch McConnell is too "liberal" or he lacks patriotic cred because he compromised every now and then with Democrats (I do hope that's NOT the case with you), you have some catching up to do.

Eileen, Mr. BevIn is not a Tea Party member and has made no remarks that I can find regarding his view of Mitch McConnell. Like many he may be disappointed in our government and feel as though the Republican party is not representing its constituents effectively. If change for the better is a possibility why not seek it?

DailyCaller is Tucker Carlson's web site. You were expecting accuracy?

Hi Tom, I can do a follow-up with Mr. Bevin when he returns from Ethiopa, but the website Dailycaller.com is calling him a Tea Party member and it is that website, as well as others, that are writing about Matt Bevin's interest in challenging McConnell.
