Stop the Swap Rally

On Thursday, a public meeting will be held at the UConn Extension Center in Haddam.

During the months after the state legistlature passed the controversial , the civic organization Citizens for the Protection of Public Land (CPPL), has been working hard on a game plan to "stop the swap."

A public meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the UConn Extension Center, located at 1066 Saybrook Road in Haddam to provide information and ways to get involved in the cause. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

"Haddam's been had worse than an act of eminent domain" and "the land swap is going to cost you" proclaim the flyers for the event.

The bill that was signed into law that contains the controversial “Haddam land swap” provided that the state would give 17.4 acres of land it owns near the Connecticut River in the Tylerville section of Haddam to a in exchange for 87 acres the developer owns in the Higganum section of town.
