The Daily Five: More Snow is on its Way

Five things you should know today, Jan. 28, 2013.

 

  1. Bad weather is on its way again and will bring a messy combination of snow and sleet to the region by tonight.
  2. The Portland Library will host a LEGO Mania program today from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Wagner Room. Children in grades kindergarden and up are invited to drop in for an afternoon of creativity and ingenuity. Participants will have their creations displayed in the Library after each program. Registration is required and additional LEGO Mania programs will be held Feb. 11 and 25, March 11 and 25.
  3. Worried about frozen pipes? Here are some great tips on how to avoid them and how to deal with them if they happen.
  4. The American Cancer Society has kicked off its Daffodil Days annual fundraiser. The East Hampton Public Library will host a film discussion about the 1958 film, “Paris: Ah, Paris,” directed by Vincente Minnelli, on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 6:30 p.m. Library staff member Phil Carr will moderate the discussion. No registration is required.
  5. Maple & Main Gallery in Chester will kick off its Barns & Farms Winter Exhibit on Wednesday. The exhibit at the 1 Maple St., gallery will run through Feb. 6.
