The Daily Five: The Portland Public Library is Hosting "Movies in the Evening"

  1. Noted Civil War artist and author Don Troiani will lecture on the period and on his Civil War works Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., at the New England Civil War Museum in Vernon.

  3. East Hampton and Portland schools are administering the Connecticut Mastery Test and the Connecticut Academic Performance Test this week and through March 24.
  4. The Portland Public Library will show the movie “Parental Guidance,” starring Bette Midler and Billy Crystal, as part of its “Movies in the Evening” series next month.
  5. The group WORD (Women Organized to Resist and Defend) will host a march to draw attention to the issue of violence against women on Saturday, March 9, from noon to 2 p.m., in downtown New Haven. The group wants to draw attention to the apathy and status quo that allows violent acts against women to continue.
