East Hampton Rotary Club's 4-Way Speech Contest
The East Hampton Rotary Club invites students in grades 9-12 from East Hampton or Marlborough to participate in a speech contest based on the principles of Rotary's 4-Way Test. The test was adopted by Rotary in 1943 and has been translated into more than 100 world languages. The Test asks the following questions:
“Of the things we think, say or do:

4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
The 4-Way Test Speech Contest is designed to acquaint high school students with Rotary and to create opportunities for students to think critically about the 4-Way Test as an ethical framework for behavior and decision-making in their everyday lives. The contest further requires students to build and deliver a 5-7 minute talk that demonstrates public speaking skills in front of a local audience and panel of judges.
Speeches must be ready for presentation on Wednesday, December 5th, beginning at 4:00pm in the East Hampton Public Library's Community Room. An example of a previous winner is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRYKEoLu7TQ. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the First ($100), Second ($75), and Third ($50) Place contest winners.
