The Brownstone Quorum of Portland, in partnership with the Jonah Center for Earth and Art in Middletown, will be hosting a public presentation at the Quorum's Annual Meeting on Monday at 7 p.m.

Portland and Middletown: Partnering for a Livable and Sustainable Future, by Portland resident, John Shafer, will be held in the Mary Flood room at the Portland Library on Freestone Avenue.

John is president of the Jonah Center for Earth and Art in Middletown, and a professor at Middlesex Community College. He will give a brief presentation on activities of the Jonah Center and other local organizations that are working to engage Middletown and surrounding towns to address large-scale global challenges on a local level.

He will focus especially on the relationship between environmental, energy, economic and quality of living issues. The presentation will be followed by a discussion about ideas and ways in which Middletown, Portland, and other towns can cooperate together to support each other in initiatives and efforts to create a livable and sustainable future.

Residents are encouraged to attend and join the discussion. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.
