East Hampton High School Renovation Project

On Tuesday, June 4 East Hampton residents are asked to go to the high school to vote on the renovation project proposal. Many of the proposed changes are necessary. Some of the reasons are: to meet code, to make the school more energy efficient, to bring to the students a modern 21st century learning environment, to meet the concerns of the accreditation committee, to increase the safety and security of students and staff, to add and improve space for the townspeople, to upgrade all science labs, and to integrate technology into the building. How does this relate to real estate? Quite a bit! East Hampton is the only town in this area that does not have a modern high school facility. What do people look for when they purchase a home, or chose a town to live in? One of the biggest factors is the school system and that includes the facilities. People want to live in a town that invests in itself, that offers up to date schools, libraries, community centers etc. All these things keep our property (market) values up. Keeping taxes too low and not investing in buildings and infrastructure will harm home prices in the future. People will chose to live elsewhere and homes will be harder to sell and they will be at lower values. Please vote on Tuesday and support the future of East Hampton.
