Bellringers Lose in a Heartbreaker!

Boys Soccer

It took a full 80 min to decide the Shoreline soccer semi-final between Hale-Ray and East Hampton and the closing decision left 11 stunned young men in the cold on Sat. night. A direct kick from inside the goal box would have given the Bellringers a chance to even the score but time expired and the Noises escaped with the win.The East Hampton High Bellringers lost to a very solid Hale-Ray side 1-0 and it is on to the Shorline finals for the Noises from East Haddam.

Once again it was the East Hampton defense that proved to be the strong suit in a game that featured two very even teams. The exceptional play of senior Capt. Nathaniel Heroux and the equally formidable pressure from Ben Boscarino and Phil Moon prevented any serious challenge. Except for a deflection early in the second half the Bellringers played exceptionally tough defense.

It is now on to the state tournament for both teams and the Bellringers need to find some offense. Offensive runs and shots on goal are not the issue, goals are. Their defense can play with anyone and there are times when they play with heart and determination. They are plagued by lapses in concentration and inconsistency but the game is 80 min. long and they need to realize now is the time to come together. In tournament play there is no tomorrow.
