Ziobron Supports Farmers Markets

We are fortunate in the 34th District to have a number of small businesses that support agriculture, homemade items and organic ingredients. You have a chance to see many of them at our farmer markets. Today, I want to remind you about their locations and hours and hope you get to enjoy them this summer.

In East Hampton, they are held on Saturday mornings from 9am to 1pm in the parking lot of the Congregational Church. Last week I purchased dahlias, round zucchinis, and yellow snap beans. They also feature maple syrup, honey and freshly brewed coffee! In East Haddam, it is held on Wednesday afternoons from 4pm-7pm. This year it has a new location at Ballek’s Garden Center. There I have purchased beefalo burgers, cheese, whoopie pies, and jams. They have much more to offer every week, like soaps and fresh produce from local farms. There are also a couple of food trucks that stop by including NORA’s Cupcakes! In Colchester, they are held at the Colchester Town Green on Sunday mornings from 9am to 1pm. They also have a wide variety including local fresh frozen seafood, cheeses, honey and you can even buy your dogs a treat. A local baker from East Hampton, Maria Peplau also features her homemade breads and cakes. Her pumpkin bread is amazing.

I have been supporting all three markets for a long time and look forward to seeing the new items and friendly faces each week. Please stop in and check them out for yourself.
