Obituary For Dariusz Czarnota of East Hampton

A father, son, brother, academic and hard worker died this week after drowning in the Connecticut River. The funeral is planned for Monday, July 9.

Dariusz Czarnota, the 37-year-old East Hampton man whose body was recovered , will be buried next week in his home town of New Britain.

Czarnota was originally from Poland, but he immigrated to Connecticut when he was five years old. He leaves behind many family members, including two children as well as extended family in Poland.

Dariusz Czarnota, 37, of East Hampton passed away unexpectedly July 1 in Chester, Conn.

Born in Poland, Dariusz and his family immigrated to the United States at the age of five and established residence in New Britain. He was a graduate of Quinnipiac University, obtained his masters degree at the University of New Haven, and was employed at Yale University. His hobbies included playing basketball, fitness, tennis, role playing gaming with his friends, playing poker and boating with his family. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the San Francisco 49ers.

Dariusz was a devoted family man and leaves behind his wife, Athena (Nizielski) Czarnota, and two children Ashley, 17, and Nikolaus, 11, both of whom he loved very much and was extremely proud of; parents Danuta and Ryszard Czarnota of New Britain; a brother Conrad Czarnota; grandmother Helen Czarnota; mother-in-law Krystyna Pytko, father-in-law Andrzej Nizielski, brother-in-law Jason Nizielski, sister-in-law Stacey Nizielski; and leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins in both the United States and Poland, and close friends.

Calling hours will take place on Sunday July 8, 2012 from 2 – 6 p.m. at the Venskunas Funeral Home 670 Stanley St. New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church in New Britain on Monday July 9, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in the family plot.
