Accident Closes 17A in Portland

Car strikes utility pole, closing road in both directions.

Portland Police and Fire Departments and at least two amulances responded to a car accident on Main Street and 17A in Portland about 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Acccording to firemen at the scene, a car hit a utility pole. The road was closed in both directions.

Two Connecticut Light and Power trucks were at the scene to make emergency repairs.

The accident was a few hundred feet beyond the intersection of Indian Hill Road and and before Middlesex Marine at 674 Main St.

No information was available concerning injuries or how many people were in the car.
