Accident on Route 66 Sends Two to Hospital

Life Star called to head-on collision Wednesday morning.

 

The East Hampton Police Department is investigating a two-car head-on collision that occurred at 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday on West High Street (Route 66) east of Route 151.

A preliminary investigation found that a silver Chevrolet was traveling east on Route 66 and a blue Hyundai was traveling west. According to police, it appears the Chevrolet crossed left on center striking the Hyundai within the west bound lane.

The driver of the Hyundai had to be extricated from the vehicle by the East Hampton Fire Department. The driver was taken to Hartford Hospital by Life Star helicopter for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital.

The names of the drivers are not being released until notification of family.

The accident remains under investigation.
