Local Real Estate Agent Chris Burt Arrested

A dispute between Burt and his tenants leads to his arrest.

East Hampton police arrested Christopher Burt, of 21 Day Point Road in East Hampton, on Aug. 9 and charged him with impersonating a police officer.

Burt, 53, a well-known local real estate agent, was also charged with disorderly conduct.

The charges stem from a complaint from tenants of an apartment at 16 East High St., who say Burt came to their door and identified himself as an East Hampton officer in an effort to get him to open the door.

Burt, who owns Burt Realty in town, is the landlord of that property and police said there is a history of landlord-tenant disputes between Burt and his tenants.
