Cruisers Stuffed in East Hampton

Police union event to help food bank a success.

East Hampton residents came through Saturday during the police union's Stuff A Cruiser event at Stop & Shop.

"It went great," officer Mike Salafia said, President of Council #15, AFSCME, AFL-CIO. "We stuffed an SUV and a cruiser. We had to actually make trips to unload them."

All donations went to benefit the East Hampton Food Bank.

Salafia anticipates another food drive around Thanksgiving, so if you didn't make it Saturday, there will be another chance to donate. Of course, you don't have to wait. The food bank, which provides food and fuel assistance to East Hampton residents, is always in need of food and other items.

The food bank, staffed by volunteers, is open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
