The town’s Senior Bus was used to shuttle the volunteers to specific search areas that had been meticulously mapped out and organized at the firehouse. Walking search crews were deployed, along with searchers on horseback. Over 80 residents aided in today's search.

Dan Roschko, a volunteer from the Chester Hose Company, was out with his fire department's all-terrain vehicle, searching with crews throughout wooded areas all day long.

"We started at about 9 a.m. and have been out searching numerous locations all over town that are tough to reach on foot," he said.

East Haddam Emergency Management Director, Craig Mansfield said, "The search is on-going, and at this point it is undetermined as to how long it will continue."

People who are interested in volunteering over the weekend, on Saturday or Sunday, can log onto the town's web site during the day on Friday at  www.easthaddam.org for details and more information.

You can also reach the command center at the firehouse during the day at 860-873-5037.
