East Hampton Man Charged With Assault, Strangulation
Police say a town resident assaulted a woman whom he knew, leaving her hospitalized with injuries.
An East Hampton man is facing felony charges after an apparent assault on a woman who has since been hospitalized.
Stephen Garrett, 54, of 72 Comstock Trail, was arrested around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning after police responded to a 911 call about a domestic incident on his street.
Garrett was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.

Police did not give many details on the nature of the arrest, however they did confirm that a female victim whom Garrett knew was taken via ambulance to a hospital after suffering unknown injuries
Police did not name the victim however they said incident wasn’t a random act. It appears that she called 911.

Garrett appeared in Middlesex Superior Court on Wednesday on a $500,000 bond. The court clerk’s office said the judge reduced his bond to $100,000. Garrett is due back in court on Oct. 4.
