An East Hampton man is facing multiple charges after police said he assaulted a 33-year-old pregnant woman on Thanksgiving day last year.

Police arrested Michael Foran, 38, of 24 Walnut Street East, on Wednesday following an investigation that began on Feb. 27. Police said the victim arrived at the East Hampton Police department that day to file a complaint about the assault that allegedly occurred four months prior.

The victim told police she was too afraid to make a complaint earlier than that.

Police arrested Foran on a warrant charging him with third-degree assault of a pregnant woman, risk of injury to a minor, second-degree strangulation and second-degree threatening.

Foran was held on a $75,000 court-set bond following his appearance in Middlesex Superior Court, police said.

Foran was previously arrested on Feb. 27, the same day the complaint was filed, on a charge of violating his probation.

Officer Hardie Burgin handled the assault investigation.
