East Hampton Police Chief Concludes Investigation

Kelly suspended a total of 10 days over emails.

An internal investigation by East Hampton Police Chief Matt Reimondo into non-work related emails by Sgt. Garritt Kelly has resulted in a suspension equaling 10 days.

The town anonymously received copies of some of Kelly’s emails and turned them over to Reimondo to look into. An investigation was started by the Chief on Aug. 11.

As a result, the town, Kelly and the International Brotherhood of Police Officers entered into a settlement agreement on Aug. 24 stating that the suspension will consist of five days evenly distributed over five pay periods. Also, Kelly will forfeit five days from his accrued vacation time.
