East Hampton Police Looking for Suspect

Incident involves attempted theft of an automated cashier machine.

 

East Hampton Police are investigating an attempted theft of an automated cashier machine at a car wash on Route 66. The attempt occurred on March 25 at about 9:05 p.m.

According to police, surveillance tapes showed a white male suspect, wearing a dark colored hoodie (with the hood up), jeans and boots walking from the south side of the car wash toward the bay where the damage occurred. The male was wearing large white socks over his hands and a surgical type mask over his mouth and nose. The suspect was carrying at least two pry bars.

The suspect did not succeed with stealing the machine or money from it. Approximately $8,000 damage was incurred in the attempt.
