East Hampton Woman Charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor

Allegedly allowed 12-year-old to recklessly fire a .22 caliber rifle without supervision.

East Hampton Police arrested Alexandria Simonelli of East Hampton on April 6.

Simonelli, 51, was charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree.

The charges stem from an investigation into a 12 year-old under Simonelli’s care,  whom was recklessly firing a .22 caliber rifle without supervision.

The investigation was conducted by officer John Wilson pursuant to a complaint from a concerned citizen on Jan. 18.

Simonelli was released on a $20,000.00 court ordered bond. She is scheduled for arraignment at Middlesex Superior Court on April 19.

This is not the first time police have been called to the Wopowog Road address.

Simonelli and the boy's father, Joseph Simonelli Sr., were arrested on April 3, 2008, after the boy accidentally shot the father in the neck. Numerous weapons and ammunition were seized. To read The Hartford Courant's background on that story, click here.
