Fire Displaces East Hampton Family

The fire destroyed a portion of a North Maple Street home.

An East Hampton family has been displaced after a fire destroyed a portion of their home at 64 North Maple St.

Town Manager Mike Maniscalco said the fire burned "a good portion" of the house between 1 and 3 a.m., prompting a response from several area departments.

Maniscalco said the family was able to get out before the fire engulfed the home and no firefighters or civilians were hurt.

"The home was fully involved with the department arrived," Maniscalco said.

Maniscalco said the fire burned a walk-out basement toward the rear of the house and the first floor. No state fire marshal and the local fire marshal are still investigating the cause.
