PD: Man Kidnapped, Shot in Back of Head Found in Portland

An unidentified black male was found unresponsive and bloody on Riverside Street, police said.

A man found on the side of Riverview Street with a gunshot wound in the back of his head had been kidnapped from Hartford Thursday, police said.

The man was identified as a Hartford resident, police said, but was not publically identified pending notification of the man’s family. He was still alive in critical condition at Hartford Hospital as of 9 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

The victim, a black male, was found in Portland along a lightly-traveled portion of Riverview Street around 3 p.m. He was abducted from Hartford at 2 p.m., police said.

He was found with a single gunshot wound to the head; the shot entered his head behind his left ear, police said.

The State Police Major Case Squad is assisting local police in the investigation, as well as members of the Hartford Police Department.

A man was found covered in blood and unresponsive on the side of Riverside Street in Portland Thursday afternoon, police said.

Police say a black male was found on Riverside Street; he was unconscious and wasn’t breathing when he was found, police said. He was taken to Hartford Hospital in critical condition.

The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit reported to the scene. More information will be posted when it becomes available.
