PD: Two Charged With Crack, Pot Possession After Alleged Wrestling Incident
Middletown police responding to a call of four guys, including one from Portland, fighting were told they were just "joking around," but the drugs found by a canine on two of them were no laughing matter.
Two individuals, one from Portland and another from Middletown, are facing charges of drug possession and sales after officers investigating a report of four men fighting in the city's North End turned up cocaine and marijuana, according to
On Aug. 12 at 10:02 p.m., police were called to a home on Johnson Street for four men fighting. The report says officers saw some men at Spring and Prospect streets with a person in a car trying to leave.
One man covered in sweat and out of breath, the report details, said he was wrestling and there was no problem; they were just "joking around." Officers saw another unidentified man in a ripped shirt with blood on it, which was determined to be from another incident. Both were released.

Kirel Iai'zhon Cherry, 22, of Stoneycrest Drive was driving the Lexus ES3 borrowed from a friend, police report. The report says a baggie of marijuana was found on the street with 7.5 grams inside. Cherry admitted to buying it earlier in the night and, the report says, he had $388 in cash.
A police dog found 2.5 more grams of marijuana on the ground and two bags of crack totaling .8 grams and another. 2 grams in the car, according to police.

Cherry admitted the single pack of crack was his; and Willie Watford, 23, of Airline Avenue, Portland, told offers the marijuana was his, but not the crack, police report.
Cherry was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and non-student possessing drugs near school; Watford for illegal sale of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of less than 4 ounces marijuana.
