PD: Portland Roadside Victim Dies, Identified

The man was identified as Christopher Jefferson of Hartford.

The man found on the side of Riverview Street in Portland with a gunshot wound to the back of his head was identified as 26-year-old Christopher Jefferson, of Bond St., Hartford.

He was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital at 9:03 a.m. Friday, according to a police statement.

Portland and Hartford police officers are working together to piece together the series of events that led to Jefferson’s death Thursday.

A preliminary timeline of events is as follows, according to police:

At 2 p.m. Thursday, Jefferson was kidnapped at gunpoint in Hartford.

He was found in Portland along a lightly-traveled portion of Riverview Street around 3 p.m. His partially-clothed body was found lying on the south side of the road with a gunshot wound behind his ear.

He was rushed to Hartford Hospital where he lingered in critical condition until being pronounced dead Friday morning.
