Worker Injured in Portland Golf Course Accident

In critical condition after being trapped under equipment.

 

A maintenance worker at Portland Golf Course is in critical condition Thursday afternoon after becoming trapped under an overturned piece of equipment.

The man, whose identity was not released, was freed under a Cushman Turf-Truckster, a powered industrial truck that was being used to spray crabgrass control chemicals, after the early-morning accident, police said.

The worker was treated at the scene by Portland fire personnel, Hunter's Ambulance and Middletown Hospital paramedics.

According to police, the worker sustained serious injuries and was first taken to Middlesex Hospital before being transferred to Hartford Hospital wher he is listed in critical condition.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) responded to the scene to investigate.
