Carpino Honors Portland Girls' Basketball
Team receives state citation or winning state title.
It has been nearly three months since the Portland girls won the Class S basketball championship, but recognition for their accomplishment continues.
State Rep. Christie Carpino, who represents Cromwell, Middletown and Portland, presented a State Citation to coach Nick Chaconis and assistant coach Diane Coleman on June 13.
The Highlanders finished the season 23-4, defeating Cromwell 45-41 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville on March 18 for the title.
