Carpino Hosts Meet and Greet

State Rep. Christie Carpino co-hosted a “Coffee with Christie” event on March 30 at 2 Broke Girlz 2nd Chance Café at 246 Main St. in Portland.

During the meet and greet with early-morning diners, Rep. Carpino listened to Portland residents who shared their concerns on a variety of issues. The issues discussed included the burdens Governor Dannel Malloy has put on businesses such as paid sick leave - passed last year - and the current initiative to increase minimum wage. People also expressed concern over the millions of dollars spent on state employee longevity bonuses, the teacher pension issue and changes to state liquor laws. 

Constituents were happy and grateful that Rep. Carpino (R, Cromwell) was there to listen to what was on their minds and get the latest update from the Capitol.

Also there was Shannon McAvoy, from the Neighbor to Neighbor Program who provided constituents with information on how Portland residents can have their homes evaluated to save energy.

“Listening to the concerns of the people that put their trust in me is the most important thing I can do as a legislator. When I go to Hartford I’m their voice,” Carpino said.

Carpino represent the 32nd Assembly District, serving Portland, Middletown and Cromwell.
