The former East Hampton Town Councilman has received the endorsement of the Democratic Town Committees from East Haddam, East Hampton and Colchester, the three towns that comprise the newly configured 34th District.

“I’m honored to have gotten the three endorsements,” Goff said, adding he was aware of interest by other Democrats in running before they decided not to. “Not having a primary with anybody keeps the party stronger and we’re all focusing on one person. This is a new District and we have to be able to work together.”

Goff characterized his campaign as going “very well” and he is close to getting the necessary signatures and donations to qualify for campaign financing. Goff credits his staff for helping get it done this early, which, he says, is unusual for a campaign.

“I’m so happy to have Tom O’Brien as my treasurer,” he said. “He’s so good at keeping this all organized, filing what needs to be filed. He’s a great treasurer.”

Goff is looking forward to the next few months, getting his message out, meeting more people from the towns and going to different events.

Among the events you will see him at this week is the next East Hampton Yellow Ribbon Welcome Home Ceremony on Friday at the Village Center in East Hampton at 6:30 p.m. Goff will lead the celebration to welcome home Capt. Jeffrey Pugatch from Afghanistan.

The Republicans chose Melissa Ziobron of East Haddam over Bill Devine as their for the 34th District last week. However, Devine, of East Hampton, has said he will primary.
