East Hampton to Pave Route 66 Starting Next Month

Paving project to commence on Oct. 6 between the Portland town line and the intersection with Maple Street.

East Hampton will be paving roughly three miles of Route 66 between the Portland town line and Maple Street, starting next month.

In a news release issued Monday the town said the paving project will commence on Oct. 4 with an estimated completion date of early November, weather permitting.

Residents are asked to take alternate routes whenever possible. Students driving themselves to East Hampton High School are asked to take an alternate route to school in an effort to reduce congestion on Route 66.

The Town of East Hampton has been working closely with the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation to try and minimize the impact to commuters and travelers.
