The Chatham Party slate was nominated by the Selection Committee, which began conducting interviews with prospective candidates in June.

“The Chatham Party slate offers more than just fresh faces. The candidates who have come forward will bring fresh ideas that will bring East Hampton together and move our community forward,” says Gem Marshall, who served as the Chair of the Selection Committee.

Sue Weintraub, the sole Chatham Party incumbent, says she is excited to campaign with such a diverse, experienced slate of candidates.

“I have been proud to represent the people of East Hampton over the past four years and look forward to once again winning the support of the community,” she said. “The Chatham Party has assembled an incredibly strong slate that will provide the nonpartisan leadership we need to set clear policies and make better decisions based on priorities and opportunities.”

Kyle Dostaler added, “The Chatham Party will put the town on the right track. We will hire an experienced, professional and ethical town manager and town attorney. We will support town staff to do their jobs. We will restore the public trust by listening to the people, making informed, financially sound decisions and acting in the best interest of East Hampton.”

About the Candidates

The five candidates for town council offer a strong blend of talent and experience. Sue Weintraub, the two-term incumbent, has proven her strength of character and commitment to the community throughout the controversies of the last year. She is the owner of Weintraub & Company, a graphic design and marketing firm. Kyle Dostaler and Derek Johnson served one term on town council in 2005-07. Dostaler, Chatham Party Chairman, is a self-employed Web Developer and IT professional. Johnson is an attorney specializing in commercial law and also an economist on the faculty at the University of Connecticut. Angela Sarahina, an East Hampton native and a director of the Haddam Neck Fair Association, is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Glenn Suprono is a corporate engineer for Unicorr Packaging Group, a multi-plant manufacturing company based in North Haven.

The Chatham Party candidates for board of education bring much knowledge of educational issues to the table.

Joelyn Leon is the mother of two children in the East Hampton schools. She works for the United Auto Workers Region 9A and is completing her Master’s degree in public policy at Trinity College. Bill Marshall is a retired school principal having worked in the towns of Simsbury and East Hampton, and has children and grandchildren living in East Hampton. Scott Minnick, a life-long resident and father of two young children, is a middle school French teacher in Glastonbury.

The Board of finance candidates each bring deep experience in business and budget planning. Mary Ann Dostaler is the President of MAD Communications, a marketing and creative services agency. She is a current member of the East Hampton Brownfield Redevelopment Agency and former chair of the economic development commission. Scott Sanicki is an engineering supervisor with Pratt and Whitney. Dave Monighetti is part owner of two manufacturing businesses in Middletown, Wyrepak Industries and BCY, where he is responsible for finance and accounting.

The two candidates for the zoning board of appeals are both committed to objective zoning evaluation. Hoffman is graphic designer and account manager of Shiner Signs in Meriden. Curtis is a systems software support engineer at Citizens Financial Group.
