Haddam Residents Petition for Public Land Swap Hearing

A petition was signed by 135 residents, according to a Haddam Bulletin report.

 

The petition was signed by 135 town residents and is calling for the Haddam Board of Selectmen to schedule a town meeting to adopt the following resolution:

“Be it resolved by the Town Meeting of the Town of Haddam, having had ample time to debate and reflect on the consequences of the General Assembly's passage of Special Act 11-16, Section 8, that the town legislature opposes the above described state legislatively mandated conveyance and calls on the General Assembly to immediately repeal Section 8 of Special Act 11-16”

The controversial would swap 17 acres of state-owned land near the Connecticut River for 87 acres of forest land in Higganum.
