Hintz for Town Council

'We need to put our differences aside and concentrate on the greater good.'

To the editor:

My Name is Theodore (Ted) Hintz, Jr. and I am running for Town Council. I am a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Financial Planner, partner in a local CPA firm, and owner of a local family wealth preservation strategies firm. I have served as Chairman of the East Hampton Board of Finance (November 2004 to November 2008) and am presently an active member of the East Hampton Rotary Club.

I am a lifelong resident of East Hampton who believes in giving back to the community. My wife and I are raising three young children and believe that you lead by example. I believe East Hampton is a great town that has been going through some rough times. In my profession I work with many individuals and businesses who are challenged to overcome their difficulties at times. In doing so, I have realized that pointing fingers and placing blame doesn’t help any situation. There has not been a week that you don’t pick up the paper and read how this one did that and this one did that. Enough is enough. We need to put our differences aside and concentrate on the greater good. Over the past years we have spent significant time and money bickering, we need to move on. It is time to get to work. We are in desperate need of new leadership. Our form of government is not one where the Town Council should be running the day-to-day operations of the town nor taking on the role of human resources. If elected to town council, my first priority will be to hire a permanent Town Manager. We have been floundering without one for too long.
